Mike Wieser

Mike passed away due to complication from having Wilson's disease, which meant he couldn't handle copper. No . . . that's not right. They let him die. He needed a new liver and we had everything lined up for him. The money, a hospital equipped to do a transplant, he was high on the transplanter list, all of us who knew him were willing to see if they could use part of our livers. But because he had no health insurance they let him die. He was going to be a lawyer. He was a good man and a good cousin. But he had a preexisting condition so he couldn't get insurance. Since he didn't have it, the hospital he was in decided to wait to move him. He got worse, after they decided not to move him because no one wanted to be responsible. It's hard on those left behind. Mike will be missed. This was a small thing I could do for my Aunt. While she is grateful, losing one of her children makes it hard for her to watch this. My Aunt is a great woman that adopted Mike and my other cousins. However, I don't think she'll ever be the same.
